"If it weren't for Blair, I wouldn't have even had a shot, period, at achieving my dreams in this game. And that's point blank."
Jackson Rains is a dedicated baseball player who, after a gap year of intense training, sought to further elevate his game. He was in a unique position, transitioning from a pitcher to a hitter after two and a half years without swinging a bat, and was looking for a program that could truly unlock his potential. He found that opportunity with Soul Throwers.
Before joining Soul Throwers, Jackson described himself as a "head case." He was plagued by overthinking, stress, self-doubt, and a complete lack of confidence. This mental burden made playing baseball feel forced, stripping away the joy of the game. He knew deep down that a different mindset was possible, but hadn't found the right guidance. Furthermore, Jackson recognized the common pitfall of many training methods: they might check some boxes but fail to provide a holistic, simultaneous improvement across all athletic attributes.
"I for lack of better words, was a head case. I would overthink everything. I would stress myself out. I would doubt myself. I had zero confidence at all. And it made me never truly, deep down, like baseball."
Jackson intuitively felt a strong pull to train with Blair from Soul Throwers, having heard inspiring stories and recognizing a similar training philosophy to his previous gap year experience. He seized an opportunity to be in Arizona and spent four months immersed in the Soul Throwers framework. The core of the solution wasn't about being told what to do, but rather being taught how to think for himself. Blair fostered an environment that allowed Jackson to understand the process, cultivate the right mindset, and elevate his body and mind to new levels. This unique approach, combined with observing the pure passion of Blair's son, Beckham, helped Jackson shift his perspective, learning to detach his identity from the game and embrace it as a gift.
"Blair was the first person to truly teach me how to think for myself. He never gave me direct answers. It was always the environment and the flow of things that really taught my own self how to go about the process, how to have the right mindset, what you need to do to elevate yourself to the level that you can get your body and mind to."
The four months with Soul Throwers yielded incredible results for Jackson, both mentally and physically. He successfully transitioned into a hitter, achieving elite-level stats like hitting balls 110 mph and consistently throwing upper 90s to low 100s from the outfield. What's even more remarkable is his strength transformation: despite not doing any heavy lifting for a full year, he deadlifted 500 pounds, benched 270 pounds, and squatted 425 pounds at the Division 1 level, placing him in the top three in every weight category on his team. Beyond the numbers, Jackson found a renewed joy in baseball, feeling lighter, looser, faster, stronger, quicker, more explosive, and more coordinated. He now approaches the game with confidence and peace, knowing he's maximizing his potential.
"I had not done any heavy lifting in a year. I deadlifted 500 pounds, I benched 270 and I squatted, I think 425. And I was put. I would finish top three in every single weights category on the team."
We've helped hundreds of players gain velocity, get rid of anxiety, create confidence they never thought they would have, look at baseball in a different lens, and much much more. We are trying to help people gain perspective on what they are trying to accomplish. We are just helping shape real humans that want to keep playing baseball.
